What is Safe Space Photo?
Hiiiiiii! My name is Brit and I’m a LGBTQ+ photographer in Sacramento, CA who wanted to create more than just pretty pictures.
It was truly like a light bulb going off above my head
I was sitting on the couch with my then girlfriend (now wife), contemplating my career choices, and it was like a light switch went off. Mind you, this was shortly after the pandemic happened and a photo business idea had already flopped before it even started. I was in that “What am I doing as a photographer?” phase, when it just hit me. Why don’t I connect more with cool LGBTQ+ & non-traditional humans through taking their photos in a space where they can truly be themselves? I’ve heard so many horror stories of people feeling super weird and uncofmy because the photographer made it that way. Ew. No. Who want’s that?! I’ll put the end to that right here!
I’m not just a photographer..
Photography has always been in my life since I was 16. It never felt like just something I did for fun like a hobby, but something I was always meant to do, like a sixth sense. I was the one that took the group photos, but my instincts kicked in and turned into a full blown photo shoot. Hyped everyone up, made sure their hair wasn’t a mess, fixed collars/pockets, and had everyone laughing. Creating a whole vibe rather than documenting a simple time.
I’m your friend that will not stand for lame photos for an AWESOME person.
